Why are these stories of girls featured?

The team of girl rising worked very hard in order to search for those real life stories that would help explaining a girl's life. The team along with the partners visited many girls of different age groups and circumstances. After hearing the stories they gave it to the writers with interviews, videos and notes. The writers themselves chose the stories that seemed more realistic. Eventually they came up with the stories of girls that inspired them the most.

Intel: Empowering girls through education
Millions of girls across the globe are made to sit at home, and are not allowed to study. Intel therefore, believes to give women education, which after some time will help to increase the economic growth of the country. Likewise, Doc group, Vulcan Productions, CNN films and Gather films invested to their money in the production of this documentary.  

Introduction

In our A2 we were given a project to either work on a movie or a documentary. Among many movies we selected a documentary with duration 101minutes. It is girl rising. Girl Rising is a ground breaking feature film about the strength of a human spirit and the power of education to transform societies. The film presents a story based on nine girls around the world, told by celebrated writers and voiced by renowned actors. This documentary has a lot of famous people including Indian and American actors. The documentary was produced by Kayce Freed, Tom Yellin and Holly Gourdan. This was produced by the documentary group, partnership with Vulcan productions. This documentary consists of very famous cast. The documentary revolves around nine girls who belong from nine countries. Each girl dictated her story to her writer which was narreted by very famous actors in this documentary. The writers include Loung Ung (Cambodia), Edwidge Danticat (Haiti), Manjushree Thapa (Nepal), Mona Eltahawy (Egypt), Maaza Mengiste (Ethiopia), Sooni Taraporevala (India), Maria Arana (Peru), Aminatta Forna (Sierra Leone), Zarghuna Kargar (Afghanistan).The girls names are Sokha (Cambodia), Wadley (Haiti), Suma (Nepal), Yasmin (Egypt), Azmera (Ethiopia), Ruksana (India), Senna (Peru), Mariama (Sierra Leone) and Amina (Afghanistan). This story leaves a great message for its viewers to learn and a support for women all over the globe.
